Fundraising success for Mark following his “epic ride” triumph

A St Wilfrid’s Primary School teacher got a hero’s reception following a triumphant challenge that saw him complete an epic solo trip to the capital.

The rookie cyclist made the trip to London in just two days – prior to that he’d never rode further than Manchester!

He freely admits the 200 mile trip was the “biggest challenge of his life”.

Mark Conway fundraising trip has already raised a staggering £1,145 for CAFOD ((Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) – a charity close to his heart.

Scores of people waved him off from Ecclesall Road’s Nonnas who supplied kit and venue for his send off.

Mark Conway said: “I was in little doubt it wasn’t going to be easy as I was having to avoid dual carriageways and it was all unfamiliar territory.

“I have to thank everyone for their support – I’m elated to have finished it and raised so much for charity as a result.”.

St Wilfrid’s School is no stranger to supporting the charity. A recent continental market raised £400.

Nonnas proprietor Maurizio Mori said: “Cycling to London in just two days is one heck of a charity challenge – we were only too pleased to lend him our support!

“Mark Conway’s ride also has extra special meaning for me as I’m an former St Wilfrid’s pupil.”
