Old footballing rivalries were put to one side to help launch a new-look terrazza at Nonnas on Ecclesall Road.

Sheffield Wednesday legend David Hirst teamed up with former Sheffield United star David Holdsworth to raise a toast to the al fresco dining area that has been upgraded and extended as part of the wider makeover of the popular Italian.

The sporting VIPs also sampled the new Nonnas all day brunch menu and enjoyed a glass of prosecco with Nonnas proprietor Maurizio Mori.

Maurizio Mori said: “It was a real honour to have a sporting legend from each side of the city coming together to help us launch the new terrazza. This year has been one of the most exciting in the history of Nonnas and the completion of the new-look outside allows us to offer the very best in al fresco dining and relaxation and raise the standard of the whole area. We’re now counting down to the launch of our new summer menu which is unveiled in a few days time.”

Nonnas had the first major refurbishment of its interior in a decade earlier in the year – and a surprise visit by movie star Sylvester Stallone who visited on their reopening weekend!

The new-look venue now includes the opportunity to book the new 10-seater Tavolo del Capitano (Captain’s Table) and enjoy the Tuscan menu.

The Nonnas al fresco experience is now available for brunch, coffee, meals and drinks.

It also extended its opening hours to keep up with increased demand following the makeover and is now open every Monday which means you can now enjoy its famed Italian hospitality seven days a week!

Bookings can be made on 0114 268 6166 or online at www.nonnas.co.uk
